It's a war of smartphones out there.! And all these unknown brands like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Nokia, RIM, Samsung, HTC, acer, Motorola, LG (and the list goes on.) are fighting the war. Its like the world war. Earlier, a phone is just a means to communicate, it is just a feature phone. But now if i say that, they will probably call me a 19th century guy. The comparison of a 'best phone' based on the number of units sold-out is no more. Its now the number of apps supported, number of games you can download onto it that adds to the 'best-ness' of a phone. Every now and then a company comes up with a new feature that steal the hearts of a wide range of audiences.
The game is not over with the advent of the Apple's iPhone. Google's strong response to the iOS, the Android made it a tug-of-war. Android is equally competing the Apple's iOS for the fact that it bagged some of the most powerful applications that iOS hasn't dreamed of. Nokia has their own new proprietary platform for the smartphones, the 'Symbian 3' and testing their luck with it. Microsoft on the other hand realized that their target audience are some what not satisfied with their mobile OS and to withstand the tough competition from their peers, they came up with a 'windows 7' which was built right from the scratch. The windows 7 OS is based on their much stabler X-Box OS. The RIM's blackberry OS is no less to the ones mentioned above. All The iPhones, Galaxys, Nexus', Bolds, Etnas are the result of this war. One has to only wait and watch to find out who will be the ultimate winner in this never ending war.!
